The modern cars are coming with inbuilt GPS system or you can use a device for this purpose but there are other ways to guide you to places. What is your preferred way of GPS system?

I have encountered it in my mobile phone. What is GPS? How does it being operated? Or How does it work?

If you don't have GPS system in your car you can very well use your mobile for this purpose. Just set your destination in Google Maps and you are good to go.

That is right. that is what I am doing. We have our own driver for our family service van. When we go to the capital city, I serve as a guide for our driver who is not so familiar with the places or streets in the city. I used the Google maps to guide him and it works efficiently.

@That's right that you can use your mobile phone for the purpose but if you look for various ways of navigation methods you will come across Garmin,  TomTom, Satmaps etc which serve the purpose in a better way and keep your phone free for other uses (as you are not driving the car yourself).

The various ways of navigation methods like Garmin,  TomTom, Satmaps are too strange to me. I haven't encountered them yet. Why are the classified as such? Do they differ from the Google Maps?

For a simple reason, these are navigation devices particularly for this purpose. You do not have to involve your phone for this and use it for other utilities. Besides, these are specifically for this purpose. Check it for further info (No ref link or affiliate link)

I must say that GPS navigation devices are pretty useful for reaching to your destination but you should have a good internet support to use it. I am sure with increased 4g technology in almost every country such devices would be a common thing.

You mentioned "good Internet support". It is a common and haunting problem we have had here, the weak Internet connection. Our Internet Provider network is not reliable to give us that kind of service. Thus, we couldn't rely much of a reliable GPS for that matter.
