It is the person who learns about the basic computerization and be efficient after learning it. Or it is the machine or the so-called computer being designed by man to be a virtual assistant to the routine jobs of man especially e-commerce.

Which is which?

Yes in a simple language it's as simple as that machine learning is all about how the computers do the algorthim and calculate instantly. But the fact is that computers are fed continuely with new ideas of how to store data, data and functions. It's yet another branch of artificial intelliigence.

Just like operating system of the computer. It is being upgraded to a better system like for example the OP of Windows. Windows, I think, is in high upgrading level, Windows 10.

Machine Learning is a paradigm where multiple systems- Sensors, Desktop Systems, Blade Servers in a Data centre, Cloud based systems, sensors on a Hi Tech remote enabled Refrigerator or Google alexa kind of a system, Mobile App, Laptop and/or other such systems communicate with each other, with an inbuilt ability to process the flow of information, sort, and make algorithms to capture reports.
The reports or Logs/streams of data would then undergo processing/filtering and summarization to decide on a better way of operating things or we can say optimization.
Obviously, the optimization would not be easy to obtain, and that is why specialist knowledge to understand the whole gamut of algorithms, scripts, programming code and reporting mechanism.
But Machine Learning is evolving and would create wonders in the coming times.
On the negative side, we cannot rule out a Terminator 1/2 kind of a scenario where machines start to manipulate human lives!

I would not say that it is a "branch" of AI, but in a way it highly influences AI, and the way AI needs to be adjusted and evolve.
